Cultural Cafe Performance- Yao Culture

TheYaoCulture.jpg
Stratford College today celebrated the culture of Yao, which is a traditional culture from China, through a performance in Costa's Cultural cafe including singing, dancing, fancy costumes and a 'pull of war' wrestle which a couple of boys from the audience participating in their cultural celebration. They performed to promote and celebrate their culture and their oncoming performance in the college as it is their first time here. The majority of the audience seemed to respond well and enjoy the unique experience of the Yao performers even though they probably weren't sure of what was going on. The audience seemed to really enjoy the other couple members of the audience having a go at the wrestling with the pole and member of the Yao choir. I was pesonally unamused and unsure of what was going on at times as its especially hard to know what they were saying because the were singing in their native language, which made it hard to enjoy the performance. It was a good taster of things to come but its certainly not for me.

The Other Guys

The other guys is comedy about 2 hopeless, mismatched cops. Allen Gamble (Will Ferrel) and Terry Hoitz (Mark Whalberg). Will Ferrel's character is a wimpy character whos doesnt lie weapons and has the nickname 'Paper bitch' for prefering to be stuck at his desk instead of being let loose on the city streeets, while in contrast to that Terry Hoitz is a foul-mouthed hothead who made the mistake of shooting Baseball star Derek Jeter at Yankee Stadium, leading to his demotoin and being stuck with Gamble, with everything about hime winds him up: his humming, his Prius and the way he uses the urinal.
Gamble and Hoitz have to save Steve Coogan (who's character's name I cant remember), who plays a very wealthy investor who owes a lot of money to several different consortiums and gets constantly chased by the infuriated consortiums wanting their money, which leads to one scene to where an enemy helicopter gets pelted with golf balls at a local driving range which they crash into.
I found it hard to kkep up with the story at times and it got a bit dull. Wahlberg whines and moans all the time which does become boring whilst Ferrell is amusing but also quite dull and reminds me of other characters he has played. The problem is the film starts out so action packed and fun in the first 10min and had some good one-liners and burts of laughter in there at times but other than that i found it hard to know what the situation was with Coogan's character, which lead to me being slightly disdracted at times, which put me off the film.
So this Buddy-cop parody gets 3 stars from me, certainly worth watching but not to my taste.
